MeDiCI collections have been exposed to a GPFS fault that manifested itself during the recall of data from the DMF tape layer into the MeDiCI cache with what appeared to be corrupted, incomplete, or inconsistent files. The QRIScloud operations team has been exhaustively investigating this issue from when we first became aware of it, and as of last week, we were able to reliably reproduce the issue and identify that it was a fault in the GPFS layer of the MeDiCI data fabric. The fault was reported to IBM and our team has actively worked with IBM's GPFS software engineering team to clearly demonstrate the problem.
At the direction of IBM, we are upgrading the GPFS cluster with patches to address the fault. It is not expected that there will be an impact during the change window, however, there may be a reduction in performance of the file systems during the change window.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
