On Saturday 10th September between 6am and 12 noon, UQ ITS and QCIF will be performing planned maintenance on the Polaris network switches:
- Work will be done on the Polaris to St Lucia connections to bring more capacity online. This could cause short interruptions to network traffic between Polaris based systems and systems that use the UQ St Lucia campus networks.
- The data presentation services for the QRIScloud storage collections are being moved to a different subnetwork. This affects the "data.qriscloud.org.au" service (and the associated "ssh1" and "ssh2" systems), the BNE Aspera service and the BNE GridFTP service. These systems may be unavailable for 1 to 3 hours while they are being moved.
(Note: that the presentation services outage should not affect the NFS servers, so QRIScloud NeCTAR VMs and the HPC / HTC systems should not experience any interruption to collection access.)
If successful, the maintenance work will reduce the occurrence of Polaris network outages in the future.
UPDATE - 2016-09-10 - The maintenance work was completed as scheduled.
