Advice: QRIScloud storage outage - 2017-10-05 12:00 to 2017-10-08 19:00


The cache file system for QRISdata / RDS tier3a1 collections is currently full. Applications that attempt to write data into tier3a1 collections will encounter I/O errors.

This outage also affects GPFs collections, since GPFS collections use tier3a1 as backing storage. The GPFS collections are still in read-write mode, but we have disabled flushing of data to tier3a1 temporarily.  We advise you not to generate significant write traffic until further notice.  Data written to GPFS collections is not being replicated to tape, and data that is not currently cached on the GPFS file systems may be temporarily unavailable.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this outage.

UPDATE - 2017-10-06 - 10:20 - To assist in the recovery of tier3a1, we have now disabled access to all HSM file system including tier3b1!

UPDATE - 2017-10-09 - 09:20 - The space issue on tier3a1 was resolved and services were re-enabled on Sunday evening.  If there are outstanding issues, please raise a support ticket.
