MelbourneIT who are our DNS address service providers for the "qcif.org.au" and "qriscloud.org.au" domains are currently experiencing technical problems. This is causing name lookups for many of our services to fail. For example, you probably won't be able to connect to the QRIScloud User Portal ... unless you happen to know its IP address.
This DNS outage will progressively impact on many of our services, as cached DNS entries expire. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do about this.
MelbourneIT are attempting to resolve the root cause of problem.
We apologize for any inconvenience.
UPDATE - We have learned that the problem is more wide-spread than MelbourneIT ... and not their fault.
UPDATE - 11:20 - The upstream problem seems to have been fixed. Lookups for our DNS names are working again.
UPDATE - Apparently the upstream problem recurred in the evening, but we had adjusted the TTLs on our DNS entries to minimize the impact. We have also heard that the root cause was that some person or group was DDOSing the parts of the internet DNS infrastructure.
